Painted by Aisin-Gioro Yu-Yue (b. 1954), seventh son of the Song-Feng school master Pu Zuo and a fifth-generation descendant of the Daoguang Emperor. Trained by his father and his uncle Pu Songchuang, with guidance from Qi Gong, he is known above all for horses that capture spirit over likeness, and for orchids and bamboo in a restrained literati hand.
